Matthias Langbehn
Matthias began his career as in-house counsel for Lufthansa in 2007. In 2010 he moved to Munich to advise the local member of Lufthansa Airline’s board on all legal issues, including the joint-venture company Terminal 2 Gesellschaft. After leading several Lufthansa projects on major legal topics, Matthias was made Lufthansa’s managing director of Terminal 2 Gesellschaft in 2020. While he is passionate about implementing the newest airport technology, he, at the same time, has a strong liking for vintage cars.

A holistic approach to automatization in a busy hub terminal
In times of critical staff shortage and a significant increase in operating costs, airports worldwide turn to automatization as a remedy. Although solutions are readily available in the market, the implementation of advanced technologies, such as robotics, biometrics, autonomous vehicles and self-service touchpoints, in a heavily regulated live operational environment poses major challenges to airport and terminal operators alike.
