Mike Byrom
Mike joined Spirit Airlines in 2017, overseeing a network of 90-plus stations. In 2020, Spirit’s Airport of the Future became a reality when he and his team deployed the nation’s first one-to-one biometric photo-matching solution on Self-Bag Drop technology. The solution won two coveted awards in 2021: “Best Airport Innovation” recognition from the 2021 APEX/IFSA Award and a 2021 Stevie® Award for providing one of the best new transportation products on the market. Before joining Spirit, Mike started his aviation career more than 25 years ago as one of the original employees at WestJet. His responsibilities grew along with the airline, which led to leading WestJet’s entire Canadian airport operation.

Innovation for modern airport teams
The presentation will focus on ways to optimize the overall airport experience strategy. In this context, emphasis will be placed on the use of new technologies to offset labor shortages and support emerging talent. This includes taking advantage of virtual coaches and other innovations designed to support airport staff and simplify the passenger journey. The main goal is to enhance the passenger experience and offer maximum comfort despite current challenges.
