Dr Umberto Cattaneo leads EUR cybersecurity business consulting at Schneider Electric, bringing 30+ years of high-tech experience. A physics cybernetics graduate from Milano University, he has contributed to R&D, avionics, defense and more, specializing in GIS, SCADA, ITS, secure communications and OT cybersecurity. He leads European OT cybersecurity solutions for critical infrastructure and industrial control systems and teaches OT cybersecurity in a master's program. A PMP-certified expert in ISA/IEC62443 standards, he's also president-elect of the ISA Italy Section.

The presentation will addressethe critical cybersecurity challenges faced by airports and review the key elements of a robust cybersecurity strategy, including risk assessment, incident response planning and continuous monitoring of networks. Special emphasis will be placed on protecting OT systems, such as those controlling air traffic management and passenger processing, with reference to applicable standards, like IEC62443, to plan a structured approach and a complete cybersecurity lifecycle. By fostering a culture of cyber resilience, airports can safeguard their operations, protect sensitive data and maintain trust with travelers.
